The Challenge
Over the years we have discovered a reoccurring problem with float switches failing prematurely when used to directly switch VGS pumps. The problem being that the float switched is not rated to switch the inductive load of the pump motor. While the float switch is rated at 10 amps electrically this refers to 10 amps resistive load only (AC1). This means that the switch usually fails within six (6) months, and due to the fact it is connected directly to the mains electricity, must be changed by an electrician.
The Solution
To eliminate the load to the float switch we use a contractor to switch the pump and only use the float switch to switch the tiny load of the contactor. The easy way to do this is by provision of an ISS A1 BABY STARTER control panel.
